This painting depicts the famous charge of American troops at The Battle of San Juan Hill, Cuba. The Battle was clear against the Spanish army. The decisive charge was the idea of Jules Garesche Ord who noticed an opportunity, and turned to to The General: "General, if you will order a charge, I will lead it." Hawkins responded, "I will not ask for volunteers, I will not give permission and I will not refuse it," he said. "God bless you and good luck!" Future president Theodore Roosevelt and his famous ‘Rough Riders’ were also present!
