Altitude (n.): height above sea-level

Basin (n.): a natural depression on the Earth's surface, typically containing water

Bay (n.): a curved indent to the coastline, usually created by a high rate of erosion

Depression (n.): sunken or depressed areas below the surrounding areas

Erosion (n.): the gradual destruction removal of rock material by an agent (water, wind or ice)

Estuary (n.): area where the sea flows into the mouth of a river

Glacier (n.): a mass of ice formed through the accumulation and compaction of snow

Gulf (n.): a deep inlet of the sea (similar to a bay) almost surrounded by land, with a narrow mouth

Mountain range (n.): a line of mountains connceted by high ground

Plain (n.): a large area of flat land, no higher than 200 m above sea level

Plateau (n.): an area of flat land higher than 200 m above sea level

Gases (n.): air-like fluid substance which expand freely to fill any space available

Humidity (n.): the amount of water vapour in the atmosphere or a gas

Meteorology (n.): the science dealing with the atmosphere and its phenomena, including weather and climate

Pressure (n.): the pressure exerted by the weight of the atmosphere

Protect (v.): keep safe from harm or injury

Solar radiation (n.): energy radiated from the sun in the form of electromagnetic waves

Temperature (n.): a measure of the warmth or coldness of an object or substance

Ultraviolet rays (n.): Invisible rays that are part of the energy that comes from the sun

Anticyclones: a circulation of winds around a central region of high atmospheric pressure

Barometer: an instrument that measures atmospheric pressure

Condense: to reduce to a denser form (e.g. a gas or vapour to a liquid or solid state)

Depressions: an area of low atmospheric pressure

Isohyets: the lines drawn on a map, connecting points that have equal amounts of precipitation

Pluviometer: an instrument that measures atmospheric pression

Precipitation: falling products of condensation in the athmosphere (e.g. rain, snow or hail)
